Congratulations Alexandria Mello, Worcester BSN Student, For Being Awarded a Mass/Rhode Island League for Nursing Scholarship

alex-mello-3On behalf of the faculty and staff, the School of Nursing would like to congratulate Alexandria Mello for receiving a scholarship from the Massachusetts/Rhode Island League for Nursing (MARILN). Alexandria will be graduating with her bachelor of science in nursing from the Worcester campuses’ post-baccalaureate program in December.

Prof. Tammy Gravel, Senior Associate Dean of Curriculum and Assessment, notes, “Alexandria is highly motivated and driven to meet her professional goals as a baccalaureate prepared nurse. One example of Alexandria’s commitment is her initiative with the senior level Capstone Project. Students are encouraged to select a topic that will impact nursing practice to support leadership development in the role of the professional nurse. The projects may be carried out as an educational project or a submitted manuscript for publication. Students are encouraged to identify a topic and begin drafting the manuscript the semester before as to allow for edits. Alexandria decided to carry forward her research proposal and draft a manuscript that will be ready for submission to a professional nursing journal in the fall semester. The title of her manuscript is, “A Review of Pain Management in HIV-Infected Individuals.”

“Alexandria has excelled in the clinical setting as described by her clinical and core faculty. She is well respected amongst her peers, faculty, and patients. Alexandria possesses all of the key characteristics of a good citizen and a compassionate future professional nurse,” Prof. Gravel mentions.
